This reinforces other posts which cover aspects of this, however because it isn’t only about positive talk or acknowledging the good, it deserves its own post. So yes, collect the positives, every single one along the way. Collect the ones you know for and of yourself and also those that others give you whether you believe them or not. Collect them all. Savour them.
Choose to notice the positives more than you would the negatives or the areas to improve on in terms of yourself and your students. Look outside and notice the positives about the day and your life around you. Be grateful for all there is and all you have and collect the positives as you go along.
Encourage the positive in your students rather than noticing them for any unwanted behaviour as you will see more of the actions you give attention to. Incorporate positivity into the classroom and the lessons, encouraging students to be positive about each other noticing each other’s qualities rather than mentioning something they are not good at.
Your day will be so much brighter and uplifted through noticing the positives. Through collecting them, you will also have good memories, thoughts or comments to recall in times of need when things aren’t going well and you can remind yourself how good you are and how well you’re teaching and how other experiences have gone. This can be a much needed boost throughout your career.
